Submersible Pump Sizing

Pump model selection and size number and configuration of solar panels depends on total dynamic pumping head, and volume to be pumped PER DAY.

The pumping head is firstly the vertical height ( lift) from the water level in the borehole, to the highest point of pumping above ground ( discharge point of the water).

If there is further pressure required at the discharge point ( for example pressure needed by irrigation sprayer nozzles) this needs to be added to the pumping head

Also, the pipe length from the pump to the point of water delivery and bends in the pipe add frictional head to the system. For shorter pipe lengths ( less than about 300m, depending on pipe diameter and flow rates) this may not be significant, but for long transmissions over say kilometres and/or high flow volumes this has to be taken into account.
